Luoyang City has strong material industry strength.
From China's first artificial Earth satellite launched in 1970; Dongfanghong-1 to the Shenzhou series of spacecraft, the rocket propellant raw materials produced by LiMing Chemical Research and Design Institute Co., Ltd. have been providing continuous power for the development of China's aerospace industry.

The "Plan" proposes that by 2020, the sales revenue of large-scale new material enterprises in our city will reach nearly 100 billion yuan, with an average annual growth rate of over 20%; cultivate 6 enterprises with annual sales revenue exceeding 5 billion yuan, 15 enterprises exceeding 1 billion yuan, and 40 enterprises exceeding 100 million yuan; and form 4 to 5 industrial clusters exceeding 10 billion yuan in sub-sectors such as aluminum-titanium-magnesium alloy materials, tungsten-molybdenum rare metal materials, ceramics and refractory materials, and functional glass materials.
Focus on the development of five major new material fields
In recent years, with the continuous deepening of industrial transformation and upgrading, traditional materials in our city's non-ferrous metals, petrochemicals, and building materials sectors have continuously achieved technological breakthroughs, advancing into high-end fields such as aerospace, marine engineering, rail transit, high-end equipment, and electronic information.
Based on the existing industrial foundation and future development direction, the "Plan" proposes that Luoyang City's new material industry will focus on the following areas.
High-performance non-ferrous metals and alloy materials
Targeting high-end and special application markets such as aerospace, vehicle manufacturing, shipbuilding and marine engineering, military manufacturing, and medical applications, relying on backbone enterprises such as Wanji Holdings Group, Longding Aluminum Industry, 725th Institute, Luoyang Copper Group, Hualing Magnesium Industry, Pioneer Molybdenum Industry, and Luoyang Molybdenum Group, promoting cooperation with domestic and international leading enterprises, continuously extending the industrial chain, and improving the on-site conversion rate of raw materials.
High-performance refractory and advanced ceramic materials
Promoting the functionalization, intelligentization, energy-saving, and green development of ceramic and refractory materials, focusing on the development of energy-saving refractory materials and extreme environment refractory materials, and actively developing high-temperature functional materials, high-performance structural ceramic materials, and nano-ceramic materials.
Functional glass and chemical new materials
Accelerating product upgrading and strategic transformation in the glass industry, realizing the transformation from traditional application fields to high-end, energy-saving, environmentally friendly, and special application fields, focusing on the development of energy-saving glass, special vehicle glass, ultra-thin ultra-white glass, and environmental functional glass.
High-performance composite materials
Giving full play to the advantages of enterprises and research institutes such as the 725th Institute, Shuangrui Rubber and Plastics, Shuangrui Metal Composite Materials, LiMing Institute, Refractory Research Institute, Tongyi Metal Materials, Luoyang Jinlu, and Pioneer Molybdenum Industry, adapting to high-end markets and special applications, developing high-performance carbon fiber composite materials, glass fiber reinforced resin matrix composite materials and other non-metal composite materials, copper-aluminum, titanium-steel, nickel-based alloys and other metal composite materials.
Cutting-edge new materials
Encourage colleges and universities, research institutes, and enterprises in our city to strengthen industry-academia-research cooperation, and give full play to the new material research and development capabilities of new research institutions such as Luoyang Cutting-edge Technology Research Institute, Luoyang Special Materials Research Institute, and Luoyang Advanced Manufacturing Industry Research and Development Base, making breakthroughs in 3D printing materials, graphene, molybdenum disulfide, metamaterials, biomedical materials such as heart stents, and intelligent materials such as shape memory alloys.
