In the steelmaking process, the bottom-blowing argon process using porous plugs in the ladle is crucial. The function of the bottom-blowing argon porous plug is to stir the molten steel through bottom-blowing argon gas, allowing the molten steel to circulate and achieve the purpose of adjusting the molten steel composition and removing inclusions. Therefore, the permeability of the ladle porous plug has a significant impact on the secondary refining. If the permeability is poor or insufficient, the molten steel refining process cannot be completed. Conversely, excessive permeability will affect the service life of other refractory materials in the ladle lining.
In the steelmaking process, steelmakers use bottom-blown argon technology with permeable bricks for steel refining in ladles, which is crucial. The role of bottom-blown argon permeable bricks is to stir the molten steel through bottom-blown argon gas, causing the steel to circulate and achieve the goals of adjusting steel composition and removing inclusions. Therefore, the permeability of ladle permeable bricks significantly impacts the out-of-furnace refining process. If permeability is poor or low, steel refining cannot be completed; conversely, excessive permeability affects the service life of other refractory materials in the ladle lining.

During production, bottom-blown permeable bricks in ladles endure: scouring from gas flow (argon) and molten steel, corrosion from slag after the molten steel is completely cast, melting damage from oxygen lance cleaning during hot repair, extreme temperature changes during turnover, and damage from mechanical vibrations during hoisting.
Ladle permeable bricks require continuous bottom-blown argon gas during refining. The high-pressure gas flow into the ladle stirs the molten steel, creating a seemingly rolling, boiling effect. The interaction of bottom-blown gas and molten steel forms turbulence. The reaction force of the gas flow also significantly scours the permeable bricks and surrounding refractory materials.
After the molten steel is completely cast, until the slag is completely poured out, the working surface of the permeable brick is in contact with the slag. Some oxides in the slag react with the brick, forming low-melting-point compounds that erode and scour the permeable brick.

When cleaning the working surface of permeable bricks, bottom-blown argon gas and oxygen lance cleaning are usually employed. The argon gas pipe connector is connected to the permeable brick tail pipe, and the valve is opened. High-pressure gas flows into the permeable brick. Simultaneously, hot repair workers use an oxygen lance to blow off residual steel slag from the surface of the permeable brick in front of the ladle until the working surface of the permeable brick turns slightly black.
Ladle steelmaking is intermittent and alternating. The rapid cooling and heating before and after steelmaking, along with unavoidable collisions during hoisting, cause mechanical damage to the ladle.
Therefore, the quality of bottom-blown argon permeable bricks is crucial for steelmakers. Higher-quality permeable bricks lead to higher steel yield and quality. As a professional manufacturer of permeable bricks, Kechuang New Materials has been engaged in the research, development, production, and sales of permeable bricks for 22 years, providing high-quality products with long service life, excellent thermal shock resistance, corrosion resistance, and scour resistance!
