Argon blowing usually refers to installing one or several porous bricks at the bottom of a casting ladle or brick-lined ladle. After steel tapping, argon is blown in through the porous bricks to stir the molten steel in the ladle. Generally, manufacturers use porous brick argon blowing technology in continuous casting, which can adjust the temperature of the molten steel.

Argon blowing typically refers to placing one or more porous bricks at the bottom of a casting ladle or brick-lined ladle. Porous brick After steelmaking, argon gas is blown in through the porous brick to stir the molten steel in the ladle. The advantages of this argon blowing operation include promoting the emulsification of slag droplets and the flotation of inclusions in the steel, thus removing some components dissolved in the steel. Generally, manufacturers use porous brick argon blowing technology in continuous casting to adjust the temperature of the molten steel. In short, ladle argon blowing is an important steelmaking process, and the porous brick is an important component of this process.

Below are some points that manufacturers need to consider when blowing argon through porous bricks in ladles. First, under suitable process conditions, select porous bricks with better effects, longer lifespan, and less steel penetration. Second, during the use of porous bricks, the argon gas flow rate varies in different processing stages. Too high a flow rate will accelerate the erosion of the porous bricks. Therefore, during use, it is necessary to frequently observe the gas pipeline connections, promptly handle gas leaks at the joints, and prevent gas leakage. In addition, since the concave part after erosion of the bottom-blown porous brick is easy to accumulate solidified steel, it is necessary to strengthen the maintenance of the porous brick. Generally, after the steel is poured, the gas source should be immediately connected to blow out the unsolidified steel penetration in the gas passage and the accumulated steel in the concave part of the bottom-blown porous brick. After the ladle is turned over and the slag is poured out, it is lifted to the hot repair area and tilted, and then a quick connector is connected to test the flow rate of the porous brick using compressed air or argon gas.

The argon gas purity used for ladle porous brick argon blowing by general manufacturers should be 99.99%, and the oxygen content should be strictly controlled below the specified 8ppm. It should be noted that when the oxygen content is seriously exceeded, because oxygen will promote melting and accelerate the melting loss of the porous brick, it will cause a decrease in the lifespan of the porous brick in mild cases, and in severe cases, it will lead to steel leakage accidents.

The above is a professional porous brick manufacturer sincerely explaining the ladle argon blowing technology, hoping that everyone can avoid the problems mentioned above in the production process.
